In this paper a review of different studies published in the academic literature related to the study of the migration of individuals is performed. About the studies reviewed different approaches can be observed; therefore, a classification of these is proposed, mainly finding models for human migration, migration of animals, spread of diseases and migration of other organisms. It is observed that a good number of works are developed to model the problem of human migration where they can be graded as models of migration for economic purposes, social migration; migration using information networks, family migration and finally the influence of migration in the foreign direct investment.
