La internacionalización de la Educación Superior para las Universidades de cuño franciscano, debe ser un ejercicio coherente con su histórica herencia, con su tradición identitaria y con su misión, la cual encuentra asidero en los procesos de interculturalidad emanados de la experiencia nacida con San Francisco de Asís y sus hermanos, de su manera de ser inter gentes, de estar en el mundo y tratar las cosas. Esta experiencia se encuentra caracterizada fundamentalmente por el descentramiento que permite reconocer a los sujetos culturalmente diversos, como interlocutores culturalmente válidos; de modo que, la interculturalidad en la educación de talante franciscano, exige una actitud vital que permea todos los aspectos de la gestión académica, así como a los sujetos que la posibilitan.
