Byung Chul Hand (Seúl, Corea del Sur, 1959) es Filósofo doctorado de la Universidad de Friburgo y Literato y Teólogo de la Universidad de Múnich. Pertenece a una generación de nuevos pensadores alemanes analíticos de los cambios paradigmáticos que se viven hoy en las sociedades contemporáneas del mundo occidental. Hand es un crítico de lo que conceptualmente ha denominado la sociedad del cansancio. El libro La Expulsión de lo distinto pertenece a la primera edición digital de la colección: Pensamiento Herder, dirigida por Manuel Cruz y traducida del idioma alemán al idioma español por Alberto Ciria. Está compuesto de doce capítulos.
