Abstract (es)

The vulnerability of societies as a result of the intervention of humans in planetary ecosystems, join with the processes of globalization that expand the impacts of local phenomena to the rest of the world, have been lucidly described by the German sociologist Ulrich Beck, who in his classic work "The Risk Society" (1998) already warned of the permanent condition of danger faced by modern societies, as a result of the intensive application of knowledge in the domain of nature. In some way, this author's predictions became an ominous reality after the alert of the World Health Organization (WHO), on March 11, 2020, in the sense that humanity was facing a pandemic of unforeseen consequences such as that of the COVID-19.
